ROI From Your Behavioral Health EHR
The concept of return on investment (ROI) may seem fundamentally and primarily mathematical if only because it’s framed that way in other sectors. Investors, for example, have at their disposal a simple equation in which ROI is equal to the gain from an investment minus the cost of an investment divided by the cost (ROI = gain – cost / cost).
Measuring value in behavioral health IT is not nearly so straightforward. Still, many years into the proliferation of EHRs and other forms of healthcare IT, we have a much clearer picture of how technology can make a positive impact and whether or not it succeeds.
